In principle, PCMs are suitable for any applications that require the absorption or discharge of heat at as constant a temperature as possible. Normal sensitive storage facilities fail in this regard, because they charge their system temperature rapidly, causing dynamic temperature changes that usually results in inconsistencies in thermal flux. This is why PCMs will become an established feature of many systems and components in the future, with the potential applications – ranging from electronics to automotive – too diverse to extensively list here.
When seeking out suitable applications, it is important to consider not only cost-effectiveness but also the technical implementation in particular. Only when PCMs are correctly processed and used in components and systems in such a way that material compatibility is ensured can the required properties be guaranteed in the long term. As a member of the PCM-RAL Quality Association, we support you from the outset in determining suitable applications, the specific product development and the corresponding validation.
